The mussels used to be packed into the cans by hand, but as part of an #optimization, a new packing machine has now been installed. For the application at CERMAR, a #MULTIPOND #multihead weigher in stainless steel design and equipped with other #hygiene components for processing sticky, moist mussels was set up.

In addition, a special traveling #transfer system with a printing unit is used. This system is driven by servo motors and fills two filling stations at the same time. After weighing, the mussels are carefully pressed into the small oval cans with a stamp and compressed in such a way that the closing seams are product-free.

Up to 100 cans of mussels can be filled per minute with the new line, with a giveaway of just +/- 1 gram.
